Launched in November 2024, the Skoda Kylaq is the newest entrant in the fiercely competitive compact SUV segment. It’s also the most affordable Skoda model in India at the moment, and as such, there’s a lot of interest in it. If you're considering buying a Skoda Kylaq, we’ve answered every important question pertaining to the compact SUV below to help you make an informed decision.

1. What is the Skoda Kylaq price?

From Rs 8.25 lakh to Rs 13.99 lakh.

The Kylaq price starts at Rs 8.25 lakh for the base Classic MT variant, and tops off at Rs 13.99 lakh for the top-spec Prestige AT variant. You can expect the Kylaq on-road price to be in the Rs 9.35 lakh-17 lakh range, depending on the city and the variant you opt. The cheapest Kylaq automatic variant is the Signature AT, priced at Rs 10.95 lakh. The Kylaq Prestige MT is for buyers who want the manual gearbox and all the features, and it costs Rs 12.89 lakh.

2. What are the Skoda Kylaq rivals?

Slightly more expensive (at base level) than most compact SUVs.

Skoda Kylaq starting price compared to rivals
Price (Rs, lakh)
Kylaq8.25
Nexon8.00
Sonet8.00
Venue7.94
XUV 3XO7.99
Brezza8.69
Syros9.50

The Kylaq rivals compact SUVs like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Kia SyrosMahindra XUV 3XO, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the Tata Nexon. In terms of pricing, the Kylaq is on the higher side of the segment, as the Skoda compact SUV has a higher starting price than all of its competitors, barring the Brezza and Syros. However, it’s worth noting that the Kylaq is the latest model in the compact SUV segment, and it’s also one of the few to have scored a 5-star Bharat NCAP crash safety rating.

3. Does Skoda Kylaq have a sunroof?

Gets single-pane sunroof only in top trim.

Yes, the Kylaq comes with a single-pane sunroof, but it's limited to the range-topping Prestige trim level. Alongside the sunroof, you get creature comforts like powered and ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, leatherette seat upholstery, paddle shifters, ambient lighting, cruise control, a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 4-speaker sound system with 2 tweeters, a wireless charger, cooled glovebox, an 8-inch digital driver’s display, an auto-dimming IRVM, and more.

Kylaq safety features.

The Kylaq’s 5-star Bharat NCAP score is supplemented with safety features like 6 airbags as standard. It also gets traction control, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-hold control, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), overspeed alerts, electronic differential lock, roll-over protection, 3-point seat belts with reminders for all seats, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and more.

4. Which engine does the Skoda Kylaq have?

1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo unit.

Under the hood, the Kylaq gets a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that makes 115hp and 178Nm that can be had paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter auto. As noted in our Skoda Kylaq review, the motor suffers from perceivable turbo lag under 2,000rpm but pulls strongly after. The Kylaq’s manual gearbox requires a bit of muscle to shift cogs and the clutch feels heavy. The torque converter is largely smooth, but it can feel jerky during downshifts in lower gears.

5. What is the mileage of the Skoda Kylaq?

Up to 19.68kpl claimed, 12.86kpl in the real world.

The Kylaq manual has an ARAI-claimed mileage of 19.68kpl, while the automatic variants' is 19.05kpl. We’ve tested the real-world fuel efficiency of the Kylaq, and came away with an average (city and highway) mileage of 12.86kpl for the manual and 11.03kpl for the automatic.

6. How much has the Skoda Kylaq sold in India?

Bestselling Skoda model of 2025 so far.

From January to June 2025, Skoda has sold over 23,714 units of the Kylaq in India. The compact SUV is a massive success for Skoda, accounting for 65 percent of the Czech carmaker’s total sales in India. The Kylaq even commanded a waiting period of up to five months back in April 2025.

7. Is the Maruti Brezza larger than Skoda Kylaq?

Kylaq has larger wheelbase, but Brezza has more ground clearance.

The Kylaq measures 3,995mm in length, 1,783mm in width, and 1,619mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,566mm and ground clearance of 189mm. Compared to these dimensions, the Brezza is 7mm wider, 66mm taller, and rides 9mm higher off the ground, but the Kylaq matches the Maruti's length and exceeds its wheelbase by 66mm. The Kylaq's 360-litre boot is also 32 litres more than the Brezza.

8. Should you buy Skoda Kylaq or Kushaq?

Kushaq is more spacious inside and gets a stronger engine.

Skoda Kylaq vs Kushaq side profile

The Skoda Kushaq price starts at Rs 10.99 lakh and extends all the way up to Rs 19.09 lakh, so the Kylaq does overlap with its elder sibling on this front. The Kylaq and Kushaq are matched in terms of features, but if interior space is a major consideration for you, the latter is undoubtedly the better pick. The Kushaq also gets a stronger 150hp, 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

1.0-litre engine feels livelier in the Kylaq, and it’s more affordable too.

However, this engine option can only be had from the Kushaq’s Sportline trim (Rs 17.69 lakh) onwards, so if your budget is below that, your only option is the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder engine as the Kylaq. This unit feels much peppier in the smaller Kylaq than the Kushaq, and if you can contend with a little less room in the cabin, the former is more sensible and cost-effective.
